Let's look at how to create a new SMS template.

To add a new SMS-template, click on the button of the same name in the section.

Let's consider some of the fields that need to be filled in:

  • Event. Determines where the template will be available and what objects will be available in it.
  • Text template. Is set as text, with the opportunity to use Twig.

In the "To" field, you can specify only one phone number as the recipient. If you specify several numbers, validation will be triggered regarding the format of the entered data.

Let's consider some events for sending SMS messages:

  • Customer,Order - SMS template is used when manually sending a message from a customer or order card. It can also be used in a postponed trigger.
  • Send SMS when changing order, Send SMS when changing customer information - SMS template is used to send a message using the trigger when changing the order or customer cards.
  • Send SMS when calling - SMS template is used to send a message when interacting with telephony.

The "Create copy" button allows you to copy the contents of the template with the option to make some changes and receive a new ready-made template.

You can configure the automatic sending of SMS and email messages upon different events using triggers.

How the number of characters is calculated

A character counter is displayed below the area used for entering a text template. This shows the number of characters and the number of SMS parts that the template will be split into upon sending. The counter takes into account the language of the entered text and, on this basis, calculates the number of characters required to split an SMS message into parts. If variables are used, a warning will state that the number of characters and SMS parts has been counted approximately, since the value of a variable can include any number of characters.

The length of one SMS is 70 characters in Cyrillic and 160 characters in Latin. If the number of characters in the template exceeds the number of characters of one message, then 3 characters (in the case of the Cyrillic alphabet) and 7 characters (in the case of the Latin alphabet) are reserved for linking the message. For example, a template with a length of 100 characters in Cyrillic will be split into 2 SMS messages with a length of 67 and 33 characters. If the template is in Latin, then, if the length is 200 characters, the template will be split into 2 SMS messages 153 and 47 characters long.

Important!

If the message is written in Latin and at least one Cyrillic character is present, the entire message will be considered Cyrillic.

A template can have a maximum of 10 parts. That is, the maximum template size for the Cyrillic alphabet is 670 characters, and 1530 for the Latin alphabet. Each additional part of an SMS message is charged separately.

Please note that each of the characters |, ^, , {, }, [, ~, ], \ - is considered as 2 characters by the provider. When using emojis, it is also worth considering that each can count as 2 or 3 characters (depending on the provider who sends the SMS). In this regard, we recommend that you test and carefully monitor the number of characters in your SMS templates.

For clarity, here is a table for calculating parts of an SMS message depending on the number of characters:

Parts Latin
1 160
2 306
3 459
4 612
5 765
6 918
7 1071
8 1224
9 1377
10 1530
